Four Degrees of Separation

Recently, the Philippine nation was shocked at the apparent suicide of the wife of Filipino news broadcaster Ted Failon.

Some years ago, Mr. Failon was referenced in and did the intro for the song "Pikon" by master rapper Francism, who passed away from leukemia early this year.

Francism had collaborated on the song "Superproxy" with the Filipino rock band The Eraserheads, which had recently had its much-awaited reunion concert.

The opening line of the Eraserheads' hit song "Ang Huling El Bimbo" referenced the renowned Filipina film actress Paraluman, who passed away just last Monday at age 84.

Cat-Zapped!

This is for that UP (University of the Philippines) Physics student who was in the news recently for blogging about killing a cat, and for all those who have been outraged by it as well.

Personally, I was also angered by what the guy did, but seeing as how cat-lovers and animal rights activists all over the nation have practically declared all-out jihad against him, I feel kind of sorry for him now.

So to the furious masses screaming bloody cat murder, ease up on the guy. He made a stupid mistake, but he has gone on record that he regrets it now.

That said, to the cat-killer in question, you had it coming, buddy. Bright kid that you are, you should've known better, both in doing the deed and in thinking that you can brag about it all over the net without incident. Now you have to deal with the consequences.

PAIN

I worked on this comic during Lenten Season last year, and I actually had the gall to enter it in a very, VERY prestigious contest which I will not name (but trust me, it's pretty big). They've yet to announce winners, and publicly exhibiting an entry would get it disqualified, but DAMMIT, I've been waiting months and I want everybody to see the damn thing already, so screw the contest!

To tell you the truth, I'm pretty sure that I don't have an ice cube's chance in hell of winning the said competition anyway, much less qualifying in it. Really, I have as good a shot at making it as a slasher movie does at winning best picture in the Oscars!

So here it is, my non-award-winning story. "PAIN."

Dragonesa p6-11

Note: This comic is mainly in my native language Tagalog, but I don't think non-Filipino readers should have any trouble following the story. Also, some scenes may not be suitable for younger children or those of sensitive disposition, so reader discretion is advised.
